I am an avid stitcher, with a particular fondness for samplers. When it came to framing my finished pieces, I would opt for one of Cathy Campbell’s “Primitive Traditions” frames whenever I had the opportunity. When Cathy made the decision to end her frame-making business to concentrate on designing, I was in a state, to say the least. So when a grain-painting workshop with Cathy was offered through our local needlework shop, I immediately jumped at the chance to learn this centuries-old technique. I was so pleased with the results (a credit to the teacher, for sure) that I thought others might like them, too. Once I was sure Cathy’s decision regarding the frame business was final, I decided to do what I could to fill this void, and Valley House Primitives LLC was born. My husband, Mike, is our fabulous mill worker, and his woodworking abilities are incomparable, if I do say so myself.
